Project Description

According to bank's website, the proposed technical assistance aims to (i) assist Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) in developing a comprehensive inland waterways transport (IWT) masterplan for freight and passenger movement for ensuring improved access to services and integration with other modes of transport; (ii) carry out detailed analysis of policies, strategies and regulations, and develop institutional strategic plan and improved regulatory framework for execution of the masterplan; and (iii) support capacity development of BIWTA in increasing knowledge on international best practices for smooth implementation of the masterplan.
