According to bank's website, this project aims to prepare in response to the Government of Sri Lanka's request to support recovery from Cyclone Ditwah, which struck in November 2025 causing widespread destruction across 22 districts. The project will finance the rehabilitation and resilient reconstruction of cyclone-damaged road infrastructure and irrigation systems, provide targeted cash transfers to smallholder paddy and livestock farmers for recovery of agricultural assets and inputs, and deliver housing reconstruction grants to households whose dwellings were destroyed. Beneficiaries include cyclone-affected population across the most severely impacted districts. The project is designed in coordination with development partners and applies Build Back Better principles.
