Project Description

According to the ADB website, the proposed project will directly support an integrated hydrometwaterDRR systems approach. The TA will support the development of a small-scale pilot project proposal to showcase innovative and cutting-edge technology within Turkmenistan. It is strongly aligned with the strategic priorities of the Japan Fund for a Prosperous and Resilient Asia, particularly in: (i) Advancing climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction, (ii) Deploying advanced monitoring and forecasting technologies, (iii) Strengthening water security in climate-vulnerable environments, (iv) Protecting rural livelihoods and agricultural productivity, and (v) Supporting upstream analytics for resilient infrastructure investment.

By linking hydrometeorological modernization with water management pilots and climate-informed basin planning, the TA will help bridge the gap between climate risk diagnostics and bankable investment programming laying the groundwork for a potential future pipeline in these areas.
