Project Description

According to the ADB website, the project will strengthen disaster and climate resilience and ensure the continuity of critical public services in Istanbul, Turkiye. It will support the retrofitting and reconstruction of priority public buildings, including hospitals, schools, administrative facilities, and selected district-level coordination centers, while incorporating climate-resilient and energy-efficient measures. The project will also enhance emergency preparedness and response capacity through improved logistics, communications, coordination systems, and business continuity arrangements, and strengthen community preparedness and inclusive risk communication, particularly for vulnerable populations. By combining resilient infrastructure with operational readiness and service continuity measures, the project will help safeguard lives, reduce disaster-related disruptions, and improve Istanbul's ability to maintain essential public services during and after hazard events.
