According to the bank's website, the "project seeks to address the critical barriers that are leading to limited tourism spending, low average lengths of stay, and inadequate community benefit by diversifying tourism experiences and opening new tourism destinations, especially in nature-based tourism around Tonle Sap". Also, the project seeks "to stimulate private sector participation and investment, solve connectivity infrastructure gaps, strengthen destination management, and build the capacity of tourism SMEs. The project will integrate climate resilience and sustainability and leverage digital solutions throughout the interventions to improve livability and enhance protection of the regional and national natural and cultural assets on which tourism is built. The refined proposed project outcome is to create integrated, diversified, inclusive, and climate resilient tourism destinations in Cambodia's Central Economic Sub-corridor".
