According to the Bank’s website, the project will catalyze the transformation of teaching-learning and assessment systems across higher education sector with emphasis on degree awarding Government First Grade and Engineering Colleges, and Polytechnics leading to quality employment for graduates. Specifically, this project will upgrade infrastructures and physical and digital facilities; trained teachers; strengthen competency-based assessment systems; introduce centers of excellence and skill centers; improve internal quality assurance and develop relevance research & development and innovation eco-system. The project will also encourage meaningful collaboration of higher education institutions in Karnataka locally and internationally with industries and other higher education institutions.
The proposed Karnataka Higher Education Transformation project aims to (i) expand access to quality higher education, particularly for children from rural and underserved communities in Karnataka; and (ii) improve relevance of higher education particularly to aligning with growing economic sectors and emerging industries in the State and India.
