According to the Bank’s website, this small-scale technical assistance (SSTA) will seek to strengthen central bank research capabilities, foster collaborative, policy-oriented research, and promote regional cooperation and knowledge-sharing. The SSTA aims to strengthen the economic research capacity of central bank economists through collaboration with academic and institutional experts, enhance regional knowledge-sharing through joint research and networking initiatives, and support evidence-based policymaking by helping central bank staff apply research insights to respond effectively to domestic and external shocks. The activities implemented and outputs under this SSTA will underpin ADB's strategic priorities that support economic prosperity in the region. Through fostering stronger regional cooperation by central banks on higher quality collaborative policy-based research, ADB can help to support the economic resilience and growth potential of our DMCs.
Central banks in Asia and the Pacific face increasingly complex economic landscapes, with rapid shifts in global markets, rising financial risks, and evolving policy challenges that require rigorous research and evidence-based policy action. Addressing these challenges, many of which are common across our DMCs, can also entail the need for coordinated responses by DMC central banks, and strong regional cooperation and knowledge-sharing. Yet, many central banks lack the research capacity needed to conduct robust economic research and analysis to inform monetary policy and policies to mitigate financial stability concerns. Addressing these needs is central to this SSTA and is also essential for building economic resilience and promoting stability across the region.
The TA financing amount is $200,000, which will be financed on a grant basis by ADB’s Technical Assistance Special Fund.
