Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the Bank’s website, the proposed multi-regional Technical Assistance (TA) seeks to support the mainstreaming of sustainable procurement considerations in ADB-financed investment projects, policy-based loans, results-based lending, and related market engagement. It will also focus on enhancing the capacity of Developing Member Countries (DMCs) and strengthening country systems to integrate sustainable procurement practices. This initiative aligns with ADB's commitment to fostering sustainable development, driving private sector development, building regional resilience, and advancing the adoption of innovative technologies.

The TA will employ a multi-regional approach to create, capture, distribute, and utilize knowledge that supports transformative solutions, benefiting multiple DMCs. It will primarily focus on the development of key knowledge products, including guidelines, systems, toolkits, and a knowledge exchange network. These resources will complement and enhance the work of related TAs, furthering the uptake of sustainable procurement practices across the regions.

In parallel, the TA will stimulate regional cooperation and integration, creating opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaborative learning among DMCs. By developing new capacity building delivery mechanisms and tools, it will facilitate knowledge transformation, enabling DMCs to build robust procurement systems that align with their sustainable development goals and global sustainability standards. This will ensure that sustainable procurement becomes a cornerstone of resilient, climate-conscious, and inclusive development in Asia Pacific.

The TA financing amount is $750,000, which will be financed on a grant basis by ADB’s Technical Assistance Special Fund.
