According to the Bank’s website, the project entails the Asian Development Bank (ADB) providing long-term financing to AEB to support its sustainable finance operations, as well as its lending operations to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), including MSMEs owned and/or led by women (WMSMEs) in Armenia. The project also entails a concessional loan of $4 million from Canadian Climate and Nature Fund for the Private Sector in Asia (CANPA) to AEB to help expand its sustainable finance operations.
Environmental Aspects: ADB has categorized the investment as Category FI for environment. The borrower's potential environment and social impacts, the risks associated with the use of ADB proceeds, and its commitment and capacity for environmental and social management have been assessed and are deemed adequate.
Involuntary Resettlement / Indigenous Peoples: The project is categorized as FI treated as C for Involuntary Resettlement. AEB`s business activities are unlikely to entail impacts on involuntary resettlement and indigenous peoples.
The transaction involves (i) a loan of up to $15 million equivalent in dram and, (ii) the administration of a loan of up to $4 million (in United States dollars) to be provided by the Canadian Climate and Nature Fund for the Private Sector in Asia (CANPA) (administrated by ADB).
