Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the Bank’s website, the Azerbaijan Railways Closed Joint Stock Company (ADY) requested ADB for assistance to undertake a review of the documentation and cost estimations, assessing the appropriateness of systems, completeness of design specifications and overall suitability of the projects on electrification, signaling and telecommunications and the preparation of bid documents.

In January 2025, Azerbaijan Railways Closed Joint Stock Company (ADY) shared with ADB the feasibility study and detailed design documentation for the installation of electrification, power supply, signaling and telecommunications systems along two railway sections: Birjari (Baku)-Yalama and Baku-Boyuk Kasic. These sections are part of the country's north-south and east-west rail corridors, respectively. Initial discussions have been held between ADY and the government to seek ADB financing.
