According to the Bank’s website, the transaction technical assistance (TA) complements a proposed loan of up to $100,000,000 to Louis Dreyfus Company B.V. and Louis Dreyfus Company Funding SSEA Pte. (LDC) for the Louis Dreyfus Resilient Smallholder Farmer Project in India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Viet Nam. The loan will be used to finance (i) permanent working capital, including inventories and receivables for procurement, processing and export of coffee and cotton from more than 20,000 farmers; and (ii) operating expense requirements for extension services including but not limited to training and advisory, certification support, research and development support and pilot sustainability projects.
The TA financing amount is $900,000, which will be financed on a grant basis by ADB’s Technical Assistance Special Fund.
Louis Dreyfus Company B.V. (LDC) is a Dutch-French multinational merchant firm that is involved in agriculture, food processing, international shipping, and finance. The company owns and manages hedge funds, ocean vessels, develops and operates telecommunications infrastructures, and it is also involved in real estate development, management and ownership.
