As stated by the ADB, the project will finance the construction of a 500 kV double-circuit (D/C) transmission line, approximately 270 kilometers in length, using quad-bundled Drake conductors. The line will loop in and out of the existing 500 kV Ghazi Barotha Rewat single-circuit transmission line at the Faisalabad West substation. The project also includes the installation of two 500 kV line bays and two 111 MVAR shunt reactors at Faisalabad West, along with one 111 MVAR shunt reactor each at the 500 kV Ghazi Barotha and 500 kV Islamabad West substations to enhance system stability and voltage regulation.
The ADB categorized the project E&S risks as follows:
As stated by Devex, after unbundling of WAPDA, NTDC was incorporated as a Public Limited Company in Nov 06, 1998 under the Companies Ordinance 1984 (now Companies Act 2017), with its Head Office at Lahore. After having Certificate for Commencement of Business, NTDC started its commercial operations from March 01, 1999.
NEPRA granted Transmission License to NTDC in December 2002 to engage in the exclusive transmission business for a term of thirty (30) years.
