According to the Bank’s website, the proposed TA for Uzbekistan is designed to enhance the country's statistical systems and its compilation capacities. More specifically, the proposed TA will focus on the development of advanced statistical measures on climate change, trade, and digital economy while supporting the establishment of a viable SBR within the government integrated database proposed by KOSTAT. This strategic alignment reflects ADB's commitment to climate change action, regional integration, and digitalization.
The proposed TA builds upon ADB's ongoing initiatives in Uzbekistan and will be critical to the Digital Uzbekistan Strategy. It aims to enhance the digitalization and management of economic data, ensuring that business information is systematically organized. It will also play a key role in facilitating evidence-based policymaking and promoting transparency and accountability in the country's decision-making processes. The proposed project also aspires to enhance the capacity of the Statistics Agency in preparation for upcoming reforms related to WTO accession and the climate change/green transition. The proposed TA in collaboration with KOSTAT ODA (Official Development Assistance) project, will aid the Statistical Agency in implementing the reforms outlined in the Presidential Decree No. 114, dated 4 March 2024, particularly Section 9, paragraph 5, and Annex 4, Section 31.
