Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the bank's website, "the proposed project aligns with the government's NDC commitments and aims to increase Indonesia's hydroelectric energy supply. It will also support state-owned enterprise (SOE) reforms through capacity building of PLN to scale up sustainable hydropower development at the subsidiary level with the first major hydropower development conducted by Nusantara Power, one of two electricity generation subsidiaries of PLN. During project appraisal, the Nusantara team will embed members of the project management unit within the consultant firms appointed to update the feasibility studies and safeguard assessments. This will strengthen the capacity of the state utility to conduct the extensive assessments required for sustainable and resilient hydropower development, and enhance its ability to screen unsuitable project locations".
