According to the Bank’s website, the proposed project will include the (i) completion of the remaining section of the tunnel (about 4.7 km tunnel drilling) and other balance works, including permanent support and finishing works; invert concrete of entire tunnel; dismantling and removal of tunnel-boring machines; connection to cut and cover sections at portals; site restoration; and (ii) construction of open or covered canal or conduit and tunnel with a total length of 68.3 km.
The project will also cover (i) construction or improvement of cascade irrigation distribution networks and the commercial agriculture development (CAD); (ii) support to agricultural and water productivity improvement for selected cash crops, such as land preparation; planting materials; sprinkler and/or drip irrigation; extension services; marketing; and farmers' training and capacity development; and(iii) provision of 'water on demand' to farmers through modernized irrigation systems. These are additional to the original MFF scope to maximize the completed irrigation infrastructure.
