As stated by the ADB, the Bunakha Green Power Development Project supports a strategically important 180-megawatt (MW) Bunakha hydropower plant (HPP) with a storage reservoir located upstream of the Wangchhu river cascade in Bhutan. It is designed to regulate river flows and optimize generation at downstream run-of-river hydropower plants, Chukha (336 MW), and Tala (1,020 MW) which currently suffer from seasonal variability. In addition to the estimated annual energy generation of 719 gigawatt-hours (GWh) from the Bunakha HPP, the project is expected to contribute an additional energy generation of 745 GWh annually from the existing downstream power plants during the dry season. The project will enhance Bhutan's energy security, reduce dry-season generation deficits, and increase clean energy exports to neighboring India.
The implementing agency will be Druk Green Power Corporation Limited.
The ADB categorized the project E&S risk as follows:
As stated by Bloomberg, Druk Green Power Corporation Limited generates electricity through hydropower plants.
The company operates in Bhutan.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF ADB
The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the Accountability Mechanism, they may investigate to assess whether the Asian Development Bank is following its own policies and procedures for preventing harm to people or the environment. You can learn more about the Accountability Mechanism and how to file a complaint at: http://www.adb.org/site/accountability-mechanism/main
