According to the Bank’s website, the TA will provide strategic support to ADB operations in South Asian Developing Member Countries (DMCs) to promote gender transformative and socially inclusive results. To strengthen gender mainstreaming in ADB operations in South Asia, the TA will support timely and effective monitoring and reporting of project results, analyze current good practices to inform project designs, and identify required actions for enhancing implementation and reporting on project gender action plans (GAPs)/gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) action plans. The TA will also enhance knowledge and capacity-building on gender and emerging issues and persistent challenges such as climate change adaptation, just energy transition, and labor market participation, particularly in the green economy.
Gender inequality and social exclusion persist in South Asian DMCs. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to present challenges, particularly when compounded with economic crisis and climate change impacts, dampening the progress on gender equality. Gender gaps remain in the region in the areas of economic participation, leadership and decision-making, in particular. Gender disparities in South Asia intersect with other dimensions of social exclusion, such as age, ethnicity, geography, and other factors, further worsening the inequalities. Increased climate change risks and disproportionate gender impacts compound and raise additional barriers to women and girls, reducing their access to sustainable development benefits.
The TA financing amount is $1,000,000, to be financed on a grant basis by ADB’s Technical Assistance Special Fund.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF ADB
The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the Accountability Mechanism, they may investigate to assess whether the Asian Development Bank is following its own policies and procedures for preventing harm to people or the environment.
