According to the Bank’s website, the proposed Technical Assistance (TA) will support the Republic of Kazakhstan in preparing climate-resilient and sustainable transport projects. The TA will be implemented nationally, with specific activities to be undertaken in Kazakhstan across priority transport corridors. The TA will provide project preparation support for ensuing and ongoing projects, capacity building, and policy advice. Key activities include support for (i) development of a modernized road-climatic zoning (RCZ) system; (ii) strengthening of institutional and technical capacity for climate-resilient transport planning; and (iii) preparation of investment-ready transport projects incorporating innovative approaches in planning, design, construction, and maintenance of a transport infrastructure and services.

The TA financing amount is $1,500,000, of which (i) $500,000 will be financed on a grant basis by ADB’s Technical Assistance Special Fund (TASF-other sources); and (ii) $1,000,000 will be financed on a grant basis by the Republic of Korea e-Asia and Knowledge Partnership Fund (EAKPF) and administered by ADB.
