According to bank provided information, the investment involves the provision of a five-year senior loan of up to EUR 10 million in synthetic TND to UBCI ("the Loan"). The Loan will be provided under the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) in Tunisia. The proceeds of the Loan will be on-lent to eligible sub-borrowers implementing qualifying Sub-projects in line with the technical and financial eligibility criteria.
The Loan will enable UBCI to enhance its product range and provide term financing to private sub-borrowers in the country for investments in climate change mitigation and adaptation technologies and services supporting Green Economy Transition.

Established in 1961, Union Bancaire pour le Commerce et l'Industrie (UBCI) is the 11th largest Tunisian bank (8th among privately-owned) by total assets. At YE2025, UBCI reported net loans of TND 3.5bn (EUR 1.0bn equivalent) and customer deposits of TND 3.9bn (EUR 1.2bn), corresponding to a market share of 4.2%, up from 4.0% in 2024 and 3.7% in 2023. The bank, which is headquartered in Tunis, has an extensive network of 92 branches across the country. UBCI is listed on the Tunis Stock Exchange, with a market capitalisation of ca. EUR 239m as of September 2026.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF EBRD
The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the PCM, it may assess compliance with EBRD's own policies and procedures to prevent harm to the environment or communities or it may assist you in resolving the problem that led to the complaint through a dialogue with those implementing the project. Additionally, the PCM has the authority to recommend a project be suspended in the event that harm is imminent.
