Project Description

According to bank provided information, the investment involves the, provision of a senior loan of up to USD 15m (in EGP equivalent) - to GlobalCorp for Financial Services - under the Financial Intermediaries Framework (FIF), for on-lending to local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises ("MSMEs") in Egypt.

The proceeds of the loan will be used to finance local private MSMEs, improving their access to finance and helping address the shortage of medium- and long-term funding available to the SME sector.

A financial intermediary then lends these funds to their clients (private actors) in the form of loans, bonds, guarantees and equity shares. Financial intermediaries include insurance, pension and equity funds. The direct financial relationship is between the development bank and the financial intermediary.

This describes the private actors and their roles in relation to the project, when private actor information is disclosed or has been further researched.

GLOBALCORP FOR FINANCIAL SERVICES SAE

GlobalCorp Financial Services ("GCFS" or the "Company") is an Egyptian non-bank financial institution established in 2015. Its shareholders are Amethis Fund (40.9%), SPE Capital (32.3%), EBRD (21.9%), the CEO Hatem Samir (5%), and AIF Guatemala for 2.7%.

GCFS is active in leasing and factoring both directly and through a dedicated subsidiary for factoring; and has recently launched, Ollin, a consumer finance and mortgage business.

GCFS is a fast-growing company, with total assets of USD 510.4 million and net profit of USD 23.5 million as of YE2025.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF EBRD

The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the PCM, it may assess compliance with EBRD's own policies and procedures to prevent harm to the environment or communities or it may assist you in resolving the problem that led to the complaint through a dialogue with those implementing the project. Additionally, the PCM has the authority to recommend a project be suspended in the event that harm is imminent.
