As stated by the EBRD, the project consists of the provision of a senior secured loan of up to EUR11.4 million to Eurasia Bottlers LLC, one of the leading local energy drink bottlers in Uzbekistan. The loan will finance the expansion of the Company's production capacity through the installation of new bottling lines and related equipment.
The project will enhance the competitiveness of the company by supporting the capacity expansion and the installation of new bottling lines that will facilitate local production and reduce imports of energy drinks to Uzbekistan. The project will also support the construction of a new BREEAM In-Use (Good)-certified production facility, which will become one of the first certified green buildings for industrial purposes in Uzbekistan. The borrower will also purchase and adopt energy efficient and renewable energy generation technologies that will reduce energy consumption and partially address its own energy needs.
The Project has benefited from technical cooperation (TC) support for: (i) the Company's initial IFRS audit; (ii) legal due diligence financed by the Japan-EBRD Cooperation Fund (JECF), with the company contributing 41% of the related costs; (iii) advisory support related to the green component of the Loan, including the achievement of a BREEAM In-Use (Good) certification; and (iv) the engagement of an independent consultant to verify project completion and assess the new production facility.
As stated by the EBRD, Eurasia Bottlers LLC, founded in 2020, is a leading manufacturer of non-alcoholic energy drinks in Uzbekistan. Since 2021, the Company has been bottling Flash Up energy drinks under an arrangement with Inter Food Plus LLC (the guarantor), which holds the franchise rights from Carlsberg Group since 2021.
