Project Description

As stated by the EBRD, the facility consists of a loan to Yeni Magazacilik A.S. in the amount of USD 250 million (EUR 219 million equivalent). The loan comprises an "A Loan" of USD 200 million (EUR 175.2 million equivalent) for the Bank's own account, and a "B Loan" of USD 50 million (EUR 43.8 million equivalent) syndicated to Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO).

The proceeds of the loan will partially finance the acquisition of CarrefourSA Carrefour Sabanci Ticaret Merkezi A.S..

As stated by the EBRD, Yeni Magazacilik A.S. is a joint stock company incorporated in Turkiye. Founded in 2008, the Company is one of the largest retail chains in the country with over 13,500 stores and 60 warehouses across all cities in the country. The Company is owned by Aydin Family, which holds 97.5% of total shares.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF EBRD

The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the PCM, it may assess compliance with EBRD's own policies and procedures to prevent harm to the environment or communities or it may assist you in resolving the problem that led to the complaint through a dialogue with those implementing the project. Additionally, the PCM has the authority to recommend a project be suspended in the event that harm is imminent.
