According to the Bank’s website, the project consists of an equity investment of up to EUR 50 million in Green Genius International B.V., a renewable energy developer and independent power producer with existing operations across Europe. This operation follows an initial EUR 100 million investment made by the EBRD in 2024.
The EBRD's EUR 50 million equity investment will be allocated to financing the renewable energy and battery energy storage system ("BESS") pipeline projects across Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Categorised B (ESP 2024). Green Genius ("GG"), an existing client of the Bank, is a renewable energy company based in Lithuania, specialising in project development, EPC management, O&M and other services across Europe. The Bank's EUR 50 million follow-on equity will further facilitate the Company's deployment of renewable energy projects and will support a new pipeline of 146 MW BESS projects in Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia, alongside a biomethane production facility in Lithuania with an annual output of approximately 30 GWh, and a portfolio of biomethane production facilities in Poland with an annual output of around 220 GWh.
The ESDD confirmed that the project pipeline consists of Category B sub-projects and are all located outside ecologically sensitive locations. BESS projects are co-located with existing or under construction solar PV assets. None of these projects require local EIAs and it has been confirmed that the land was leased in compliance with the Company's Land Acquisition and Compensation Policy. For biomethane facilities, the Company plans to use International Sustainability & Carbon Certification ("ISCC") EU certification system covering EU Renewable Energy Directive ("RED") III requirements on sustainability and GHG emissions for renewable fuels and energy when certifying supply chains.
An equity investment of up to EUR 50 million.
This operation follows an initial EUR 100 million investment made by the EBRD in 2024.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF EBRD
The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the PCM, it may assess compliance with EBRD's own policies and procedures to prevent harm to the environment or communities or it may assist you in resolving the problem that led to the complaint through a dialogue with those implementing the project. Additionally, the PCM has the authority to recommend a project be suspended in the event that harm is imminent.
You can contact the PCM at: pcm@ebrd.com or you can submit a complaint online using an online form at: http://www.ebrd.com/eform/pcm/complaint_form?language=en
You can learn more about the PCM and how to file a complaint at: http://www.ebrd.com/work-with-us/project-finance/project-complaint-mechanism.html
