As stated by the EBRD, the project consists of the provision of a three-year US$ 15.5 million (EUR 13.2 million) senior secured loan (the Loan) to Turkiye based processor of pulses Bashan Agro Gida Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S.
The Bank's financing will be used to finance working capital needs.
Under the Resilient quality, the additional financing provided in the context of this new project will allow the Borrower to further diversify their supply chain by adding fifteen new international suppliers of lentil, beans and chick-peas; and have long-term financing to compensate for the constantly growing raw materials prices. Under the Green quality, Bashan will purchase up to 8,855 tonnes of legumes, sourced from approximately 5,902 hectares of land resulting in nitrogen savings equivalent to 1.4m tons of CO2 emissions thanks to effect of legume production on nitrogen soil storage that reduces fertiliser application.
As stated by the EBRD, Bashan Agro Gida Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., a private company organised in Turkiye, is one of the leading processors of pulses in Turkiye.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF EBRD
The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the PCM, it may assess compliance with EBRD's own policies and procedures to prevent harm to the environment or communities or it may assist you in resolving the problem that led to the complaint through a dialogue with those implementing the project. Additionally, the PCM has the authority to recommend a project be suspended in the event that harm is imminent.
You can contact the PCM at: pcm@ebrd.com or you can submit a complaint online using an online form at: http://www.ebrd.com/eform/pcm/complaint_form?language=en
