According to the Bank’s website, the Yellow River Ecological Corridor (YREC) comprises the second largest river basin in the People's Republic of China (PRC) with a population of 120 million. The basin is critical for food security yet faces complex ecological and environmental challenges. The region suffers from severe water scarcity, impacts from climate change and environmentally unsustainable development. The Government of the PRC has prepared the Yellow River Basin Ecological Protection and High-Quality Development Plan, 20212035, to prioritize ecological protection and promote high-quality green development. To achieve these goals, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) initiated the YREC program, which advances an integrated approach to natural resources management, ecological conservation, and climate change to support high-quality green development through institutional strengthening and policy reforms, knowledge and innovation, and private sector solutions. This project will play a demonstrative role to promote high-quality green development as part of the YREC program.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF ADB
The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the Accountability Mechanism, they may investigate to assess whether the Asian Development Bank is following its own policies and procedures for preventing harm to people or the environment.
