Project Description

As stated by the EBRD, the project consists of an equity investment of up to EUR 25 million in favour of Genesis Private Equity Fund V (the Fund).

The Fund seeks to generate long-term capital gains from equity and equity-related investments in small to mid-cap companies primarily in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic.

Financial Intermediary
A financial intermediary is a bank or financial institution that receives funds from a development bank. A financial intermediary then lends these funds to their clients (private actors) in the form of loans, bonds, guarantees and equity shares. Financial intermediaries include insurance, pension and equity funds. The direct financial relationship is between the development bank and the financial intermediary.
Private Actors Description
A Private Actor is a non-governmental body or entity that is the borrower or client of a development project, which can include corporations, private equity and banks. This describes the private actors and their roles in relation to the project, when private actor information is disclosed or has been further researched.

As stated by the EBRD, the Fund is managed by Genesis GP5 Sarl. Genesis GP5 Sarl is a subsidiary of Genesis Capital Limited, a private equity firm founded in 1999 and investing in "dynamic companies with high growth potential operating in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Austria", as stated on the company's website.

The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the PCM, it may assess compliance with EBRD's own policies and procedures to prevent harm to the environment or communities or it may assist you in resolving the problem that led to the complaint through a dialogue with those implementing the project. Additionally, the PCM has the authority to recommend a project be suspended in the event that harm is imminent.
