According to the Bank’s website, the project is aligned with the following impact: a healthy population supported by accessible, equitable, and quality health care services. The project will have the following outcome: access to quality health services improved.
The additional financing will address cost overruns under the project and the project's re is no change impact, in outcome statement and indicators will remain unchanged. The Additional financing will be used after all the contract amount allocated to civil works in the ongoing project are fully utilized.
ADB approved on 28 November 2023 a grant of $27 million to the Republic of Kiribati from ADB's Special Funds resources (Asian Development Fund) for the project. The original project became effective on 4 April 2024, and the grant closing date is on 30 June 2031.
The ongoing project is not performing well and is rated for attention under the project performance rating system based on the performance indicators. Project is expected to be back on track by Q1 2026. Contractor and the design review and construction supervision firms are expected to submit claims in Q4 which will improve the disbursements. Project rating is for attention due to low disbursements. There have been no claims from either of the firms for the advance payment or for mobilization.
