Project Description

According to the bank website, this technical assistance will help Pakistan improve its resilience to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, locust infestations, and other natural disasters through enhancing its food security system and agriculture sector.

The Technical Assistance will support the Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFSR) and four provincial agriculture departments Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh in (i) using technologies and advanced practices to combat COVID-19, the locust outbreak, and other potential natural disasters and climate change; (ii) disseminating such technologies and practices to the beneficiaries of the government and rural community, and (iii) assessing the performance of the country's food security institution and agriculture sector for building the long-term sustainable food security system.
