Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the bank's website, "This knowledge and support technical assistance (TA) aims to support India's development of biofuels through novel technological adoption and sustainable business structure. Biofuels are a renewable energy source made from organic matters or agricultural and municipal solid wastes. Its usage can be extended to energy, transport, manufacturing, and medicament in the form of bioethanol, biogas, and biodiesel. Especially, biofuels can be blended as low carbon fuels for vehicles, and treated as key tool for future green transportation. Moreover, the recent coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has highlighted a serious shortage of ethanol for used as disinfectant. The TA will focus on advanced biofuels in preparing specific development schemes with technical, financial, contractual, and capacity development arrangements and viable business and operational models."

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF ADB

The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the Accountability Mechanism, they may investigate to assess whether the Asian Development Bank is following its own policies and procedures for preventing harm to people or the environment. You can learn more about the Accountability Mechanism and how to file a complaint at: http://www.adb.org/site/accountability-mechanism/main
