According to the Bank’s website, the project consists of the provision of a loan in the amount of up to EUR 14.2 million to Braila water company ("CUP Dunarea Braila"), the regional water operator in Braila County, Romania. The proceeds of the Bank's investment will be used to co-finance, alongside EU funds, water and wastewater investments under the relevant EU Infrastructure Programme ("EU Programme") in Romania.
The Project will enable CUP Dunarea Braila to: (i) extend its water and wastewater network and services in the region; and (ii) meet compliance with the relevant EU water and wastewater standards in the Project area.
Categorised B (2019 ESP).
The environmental and social ("E&S") appraisal demonstrated that the environmental and social impacts of the proposed upgrading and expanding water supply and wastewater systems will be mainly of limited duration and extent and can be mitigated through standard methods and good construction practices.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF EBRD
The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the PCM, it may assess compliance with EBRD's own policies and procedures to prevent harm to the environment or communities or it may assist you in resolving the problem that led to the complaint through a dialogue with those implementing the project. Additionally, the PCM has the authority to recommend a project be suspended in the event that harm is imminent.
