Project Description

According to the IADB, the proposed investment consists of up to US$100 million, 5-year senior loan to Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria Colombia S.A. (“BBVA Colombia” or “BBVA” or the “Bank”), an existing IFC client in good standing to support BBVA’s lending to its “Spark” portfolio in Colombia, which focuses on high-growth, technology-driven startups (the “Project”).

Financial Intermediary
A financial intermediary is a bank or financial institution that receives funds from a development bank. A financial intermediary then lends these funds to their clients (private actors) in the form of loans, bonds, guarantees and equity shares. Financial intermediaries include insurance, pension and equity funds. The direct financial relationship is between the development bank and the financial intermediary.
