As stated on the project disclosure page, IFC’s proposed investment consists of up to US$30 million in AMERRA Natural Capital Credit Fund, LP, which will be managed by AMERRA Capital Management, LLC. The Fund will provide senior secured private credit to predominantly Brazilian food and agribusiness companies.
The financing is expected to support projects that improve productivity, create jobs, and increase resilience in the use of soil, water, and biomass.
The Project is expected to increase access to tailored climate finance for mid-tier agribusiness companies in Brazil. The Fund will provide USD-denominated financing with transaction-specific structures and sustainability-linked incentives. Beyond the Project, the Fund is expected to demonstrate the potential for private credit to provide tailored financing, capacity building, and pricing incentives linked to sustainability outcomes for mid-tier agricultural producers, with potential replication in the region.
The Fund will make investments mainly in Brazil, with potential investments in other countries in Latin America.
As stated on the project disclosure page, IFC’s proposed investment consists of up to US$30 million for its own account, with the Fund targeting a size of approximately US$200 million.
As stated by the IFC, AMERRA is a U.S.-based specialized investment manager focused on food and agribusiness private credit in the Americas, with a focus on Brazil. AMERRA was founded in 2009 by Craig Tashjian and Nancy Obler, who maintain a controlling ownership as the main principals.
