Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the bank website, the proposed project will be "ADB''s first urban project in the state. The Asian Development Bank will bring its extensive experience and lessons learned from implementing physical infrastructure development, institutional capacity building, and urban sector reforms in other states of India and elsewhere. For example, the proposed project will finance initial operation and maintenance (O&M;) of physical infrastructure to ensure sustainability until the policy reforms are in place. Similarly, the capacities of staff will be developed by the private operators during initial 5- 10 years of O&M; phase for subsequent sustainable delivery of the urban services."

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF ADB

The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the Accountability Mechanism, they may investigate to assess whether the Asian Development Bank is following its own policies and procedures for preventing harm to people or the environment. You can learn more about the Accountability Mechanism and how to file a complaint at: http://www.adb.org/site/accountability-mechanism/main
