According to the Bank’s website, Blume Ventures GIFT Fund V is targeted to be a US$300 million, India focused venture capital (“VC”) fund. The Fund aims to invest in the software as-a-service (SaaS), B2B marketplaces, climate tech, agritech, healthtech, edtech, and fintech sectors.
Blume Fund V is a venture capital fund that will invest in early-stage tech and tech-enabled companies in India across SaaS, B2B marketplaces, climate tech, agritech, healthtech, edtech, and fintech sectors. The main E&S risks and impacts of this Project derive from activities of Fund’s investee companies and their E&S capacity and systems in place to manage these risks, as well as the fund manager’s capacity to adequately assess E&S risks, require corrective actions where needed, and monitor their implementation. Overall, E&S risks of the proposed project are medium, and the project has been classified as a Category FI-2 project according to IFC’s E&S Sustainability Policy.
IFC proposes an equity investment of up to US$25 million in the Fund, not to exceed 20% of the Fund’s total capital commitments. In addition, a US$25 million co-invest envelope is proposed to invest alongside the Fund.
The General Partner and the Investment Manager of the Fund is Blume Venture Investment Manager LLP. The Fund Manager is led by Partners Karthik Reddy, Sanjay Nath, and Ashish Fafadia.
