According to the IFC, the proposed investment consists of a US$50 million IFC A Loan to support GDM’s Research and Development (“R&D”) program in Argentina (the “Project”). The R&D program in Argentina focuses on the development of more productive and climate-resilient genetic varieties. The activities financed under the Project are not expected to result in any expansion of GDM’s physical footprint and will be limited to research, development, and related to capital expenditures within existing facilities.
According to the IFC, GDM (or the “Company”) is a globally recognized seed company founded over 40 years ago in Argentina, specializing in plant genetics. GDM’s activities focus primarily on early-stage and advanced genetic research, trait development, and the adaptation of seed varieties to diverse agro-ecological conditions, supporting both domestic and international markets. These operations are supported by a network of owned and third-party facilities and by collaborations with seed multipliers and research partners (https://www.gdmseeds.com/).
