The project will support the development of a hazelnut value chain in Bhutan involving about 15,000 smallholder farmers who will plant about 10 million trees on about 22,000 acres of previously fallow or degraded land. The project includes a $14.8 million expansion plan of Mountain Hazelnut Venture Private Limited and technical assistance funding. The company''s expansion plan includes investment in seedling development, tree planting, extension services, and processing and logistics. The project will also provide training and pilot technologies.
