According to the IFC, the proposed investment consists of an A loan to Companhia Melhoramentos Norte do Parana. CMNP is a Brazilian sugar, ethanol (S&E), and bioenergy company that operates 3 mills in the states of Parana and Sao Paulo (Jussara, Nova Londrina and Vale do Paraná mills) with a total of 8 million tons of crushing capacity and a cogeneration capacity of 121 MW.
The proceeds of the IFC loan will be used by used to support an investment program to improve the productivity of the fields surrounding Vale do Parana mill.
As stated by the IFC, the Company is majority-owned by the Mesquita Souza family.
