Project Description

According to the Bank’s website, the proposed investment is a debt facility to Kioo Limited, a leading glass container producer in East Africa. Kioo produces both flint and colored glass for its domestic market in Tanzania, where it has dominant market share, and export markets in Eastern, Central, and Southern Africa, and the Indian Ocean Islands. Its customers include leading beverage multinationals. The project will support the planned capacity expansion of Kioo in its existing production facility in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The expansion will enable the Company to meet increasing demand for glass containers in the region. The key components of the Project are addition of a new production line and addition of transportation equipment.
