This project finances a 500-kV power transmission line between Dashte Alwan and Kabul, including a new substation to connect to Kabul's electrical grid, and will add 1,000-3,000 MW to transmission capacity. This will transmit domestic hydropower- and fossil fuel-generated energy, as well as power imports from neighboring countries. It complements the proposed ADB project that would build a 500-kV substation at Dashte Alwan.
This project is financed as follows:
ADB: US$ 99 million
Afganistan Infrastructure Trust Fund: US$ 117 million
Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (Afghan National Electricity Authority)
Chaman Houzouri, Kabul, Islamic Republic
ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF ADB
The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the Accountability Mechanism, they may investigate to assess whether the Asian Development Bank is following its own policies and procedures for preventing harm to people or the environment. You can learn more about the Accountability Mechanism and how to file a complaint at: http://www.adb.org/site/accountability-mechanism/main
