Ânima Educação (“Anima” or the “Company”), an existing IFC strategic client is a quality-focused publicly-listed education company in Brazil, which operates private universities and online executive education, in various segments and regions of the national market. As of October 2019, it had 50 academic centres in the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Goiás, Bahia and Sergipe through its brands UNA, UniBH, USJT, SOCIESC, AGES, HSM, EBRADI and Le Cordon Bleu (Joint Venture), serving approximately 115,000 students. Its university-level education is geared toward lower-middle to middle-income undergraduate students.IFC's proposed investment in this transaction is an A/B loan of up to BRL 450 million equivalent in USD (USD 110 million) to finance the recently acquired AGES University Centre, a 5,6K top quality university group in the States of Bahia and Sergipe (Northeast of Brazil), with a relevant positioning in medical courses as well as other expansion plans.
ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IFC
