According to the Bank’s website, the project consists of a 50% loan portfolio guaranty with PMIC for on-lending to microfinance institutions in Pakistan to increase access to capital for eligible Pakistani micro, small, and medium – sized enterprises (“MSMEs”) operating in renewable energy, agriculture, and livestock sectors and, with respect to women borrowers only, the enterprise sector. At least 60% of the ultimate borrowers will be individual women or women-owned or managed MSMEs.
According to the Public Information Summary, DFC corporate guarantees to financial intermediaries who support Microfinance Institutions are screened as a Financial Intermediary C (FI-C) for environmental and social assessment. These downstream investments are expected to result in minimal adverse environmental and social impacts. Therefore, all those downstream investments have been pre-screened as low risk and further review and consent is not required for these investments.

Unlike many other development finance institutions, DFC does not currently have an access to information policy.
