Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

A DFC loan to Banco Sofisa for on-lending to SMEs especially those in
the under-served Brazilian Legal Amazon (“The Project Zone”). The
proceeds of the loan will be used to support the expansion of the small,
and medium enterprise (“SME”) loan portfolio of Banco Sofisa S.A.
(“Sofisa”). The bank will prioritize lending to SMEs operating in the
economically disadvantaged regions of the Legal Amazon in Brazil. At
least 30% of the proceeds of the DFC Loan will be used by Sofisa to
make Project Zone Loans within twenty-four (24) months of the final
Disbursement.
