De acuerdo con el BID Invest, el proyecto consiste en la suscripcion por parte de BID Invest de un Bono Vinculado a la Sostenibilidad emitido por Distribuidora Farmaceutica Ecuatoriana S.A. ("Difare"), por hasta US$35 millones, a un plazo de hasta cinco anos, y la movilizacion de recursos para completar el costo total del proyecto que asciende a US$50 millones. Difare utilizara los recursos del Bono para financiar actividades corporativas generales, incluyendo capital de trabajo permanente e inversiones en Capex, con el objetivo de seguir ampliando su red de farmacias en el pais.

De acuerdo con el BID Invest, Difare es una empresa ecuatoriana que se dedica a la distribucion, comercializacion y venta minorista de productos farmaceuticos, y forma parte del conglomerado de nueve empresas ecuatorianas del Grupo Difare. La empresa inicio sus operaciones hace 40 anos y actualmente cuenta con mas de 5,000 empleados y atiende como distribuidor a mas de 10,000 puntos de venta que cubren minoristas, mayoristas, farmacias, y centros de salud publicos y privados. La empresa es propietaria de marcas como Farmacias Cruz Azul, Farmacias Comunitarias y Pharmacy's.
