Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

As stated by the IDB Invest, this Project involves issuing blue bonds for up to US$50 million in debt securities in Costa Rica for Banco Nacional de Costa Rica (BNCR). BNCR may issue unsecured, theme (blue), ordinary, subordinated bonds. The issuance will break down as follows: (i) IDB Invest may subscribe up to US$25 million; and (ii) additional local and international co-investors may subscribe bonds for up to US$25 million.

The proceeds will be used to expand the Bank's blue portfolio. The use of funds will allow the issuance to be categorized as "blue" under the International Capital Market Association thematic bonds principles.

Early Warning System Project Analysis
