The proposed financing to Demerara Distillers Limited (“DDL” or the “Company”), a publicly held company and one of the main economic groups in Guyana, will be used to finance the expansion of its juice production plant, a solar photovoltaic generation system (including batteries) for self-consumption, and its working capital needs. The transaction will be structured as follows: (i) a US$10 million Senior Long-term Loan funded by IDB Invest (the “IDB Invest-LT Loan”), (ii) a US$5 million Senior Committed Short-term Revolving Credit line funded by IDB Invest; and (iii) a US$6 million Senior Concessional Loan to be financed by the CTF Innovative Instruments for Investment in Zero-Carbon Technologies (i3-0) that is administered by the IDB and IDB Invest acts as its agent (the “Loan”). The Loan will support the Company to increase food production for the domestic market, its efficiency and climate change mitigation through reduced GHG emissions, while strengthening local market linkages.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IDB / IDB INVEST
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IDB Invest is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment. You can submit a complaint by sending an email to MICI@iadb.org. You can learn more about the MICI and how to file a complaint at http://www.iadb.org/en/mici/mici,1752.html (in English) or http://www.iadb.org/es/mici/mici,1752.html (Spanish).
