according to bank provided information, the project objective is to support the sustainable production of anode materials of lithium-ion batteries, thereby contributing to the decarbonization of transport and energy systems.
Established in 2000, BTR New Material Group Co., Ltd. (BTR or the Guarantor) is a global leader in the research, production, and sales of lithium-ion battery materials.
Having established several manufacturing facilities in Asia, BTR is constructing its first synthetic anode manufacturing facility outside the region, to be located in Tangier, Morocco (the Project). The Project involves the construction and operation of an integrated synthetic graphite anode materials manufacturing facility with an annual production capacity of 60,000 tons. Synthetic graphite anode materials are a critical component of lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems.
The proposed financing consists of a senior corporate loan to BTR Mediterranean Anode New Material Technology (the Borrower), BTR's subsidiary in Morocco. AIIB's financing will be used to support the capital expenditure requirements of the Project.
The proposed financing is expected to support the production of lithium-ion batteries used in EVs and energy storage systems, thereby contributing to the decarbonization of transport and energy systems. In addition, the Project will also facilitate the development of battery materials manufacturing capacity in Morocco and strengthen battery value chains serving international markets.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF AIIB
The AIIB has established the Accountability Mechanism for Project-Affected People (PPM). The PPM provides Òan opportunity for an independent and impartial review of submissions from Project-affected people who believe they have been or are likely to be adversely affected by AIIBÕs failure to implement the ESP in situations when their concerns cannot be addressed satisfactorily through Project level GRMs or AIIB Management processes.Ó Two or more project-affected people can file a complaint. Under the current AIIB policy, when the bank co-finances a project with another development bank, it may apply the other bank's standards. You can refer to the Project Summary Information document to find out which standards apply. You can learn more about the PPM and how to file a complaint at: https://www.aiib.org/en/about-aiib/who-we-are/project-affected-peoples-mechanism/how-we-assist-you/index.html
The complaint submission form can be accessed in Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, Bengali, Chinese, English, Tagalog, Hindi, Nepali, Russian, Turkish, or Urdu. The submission form can be found at: https://www.aiib.org/en/about-aiib/who-we-are/project-affected-peoples-mechanism/submission/index.html
